He already knew about the leukemia, about his death, about his mission, about the 17 years I would spend telling his story, about the meeting in Brazil that would tie everything together.

The Olivea family and I remain in close contact.

Senora Olivera has begun sharing Gabriel’s story alongside Carlos, speaking to grieving families in Brazil about how love transcends death.

She told me last week, “Antonia, you taught me that losing Gabriel doesn’t mean Gabriel is gone.

It means he’s present in a different way.

And that has saved my life.

I’ve been traveling less in recent months, spending more time writing, documenting Carlo’s story and the extraordinary events of October 12th, 2023.

But when I do speak at conferences or churches, I notice something different.

I’m no longer exhausted by it.

I’m energized because now I truly understand that every time I share Carlo’s story, we’re together.

It’s not a burden, it’s a gift.

Last month, I received a letter from the young woman I met in March 2007, the first person I ever spoke to publicly about Carlo.

She wrote, “Senor Salzano, 18 years ago.

Your story brought me back to the church.

I want you to know that I’m now a religious sister serving in a contemplative monastery in Tuscanyany.

Carlos’s example of combining normal life with deep faith showed me that holiness was possible.

Thank you for having the courage to share him with us.

18 years.

She’s been living a transformed life for 18 years because of one conversation after one talk where I nervously shared about my son.

That’s not Carlo’s memory.

That’s Carlo’s presence, actively working through his story to change lives.

I’ve also been in contact with the young Polish programmer I met in 2010.

He’s now a successful software engineer who volunteers teaching coding to underprivileged children, combining technology and service just as Carlo did.

Your son changed my life, he wrote.

He showed me that I could use my gifts for something bigger than myself.

Every one of these stories is a meeting.

Every transformation is Carlo and me together continuing the mission he began when he was just a teenager creating websites about eucharistic miracles.

People often ask me, “Do you still grieve Carlo?” The answer is complicated.

Yes, I miss his physical presence every single day.

I miss his laugh, his voice, his hugs, the sound of his footsteps in our house.

There’s a Carloshaped hole in my life that will never be filled until I see him face to face in heaven.

But do I feel like I’ve lost him? No, not anymore.

Because Carlo taught me both through his words before he died and through his perfectly fulfilled prophecy in Brazil that death is not loss.

Death is transformation.

Our relationship didn’t end on October 12th, 2006.

It expanded.

Instead of having one son in one house in Milan, I have one son whose presence extends across the globe, touching millions of lives.

Yesterday, I visited Carlos tomb in Aisi.

He’s there in the sanctuary of Aramo Delicery.

His incorrupt body visible through glass, dressed in his characteristic jeans and sneakers.

Thousands of young people visit him every year, leaving notes and prayers and testimonies.

As I knelt before his tomb, I whispered, “Thank you, Toro.

Thank you for the prophecy.

Thank you for teaching me that we’ve been together all along.

Thank you for showing me that a mother never loses her son.

She just learns to recognize his presence in different ways.

” And I swear, though I know some people won’t believe me, I heard his voice as clear as if he were standing next to me.

You’re welcome, Mama.

Now go tell everyone that death isn’t the end.

Tell them that love is stronger than death.

Tell them that every time they love someone, serve someone, help someone find Jesus, they’re meeting their loved ones who have gone before.

Tell them the prophesied meeting isn’t just my story.

It’s everyone’s story.

We’re all called to transform death into presence, grief into mission, loss into love.

So that’s what I’m doing.

That’s what this testimony is about.

Carlos prophecy wasn’t just for me.

It’s for every person who has lost someone they love.

It’s for every parent burying a child, every child losing a parent, every person mourning a spouse or sibling or friend.

The prophesied meeting teaches us that death doesn’t sever relationships.

It sanctifies them.

It teaches us that our loved ones aren’t gone, they’re transformed.

It teaches us that heaven and earth aren’t separate realms, but interconnected realities, and that those who have gone before us continue to work with us, through us, and for us.

Carlo Acudis died at 15 years old.

But he’s more alive now than ever before.

His presence multiplies every day as his story spreads across the world.

His intercession continues to work miracles, medical healings, spiritual conversions, vocational discoveries, family reconciliations.

And every single one of those miracles is another meeting, another moment when heaven touches earth, when death is defeated by love, when a mother and son work together across the veil to bring hope to the hopeless.

Today, as I finish writing this testimony, I’m thinking about all the parents who will read it.

All the mothers and fathers who are drowning in grief, who think they’ll never recover from the loss of their child.

I want you to know your relationship with your child isn’t over.

It’s different, but it’s not over.

Find your mission.

Find how your child’s story can bring hope to others.

find how their life, no matter how short, can continue to bear fruit through your witness.

And in doing so, you’ll discover what I discovered in that hospital room in Brazil.

You haven’t lost your child.

You’ve been given millions of spiritual children.

Every life touched by your child’s story is another meeting, another moment of togetherness, another victory of love over death.

Carlo told me 17 years ago that we would meet again.

He was right, but not in the way I expected.

We’ve been meeting constantly every single day in every person whose life has been transformed by his witness.

And we’ll continue meeting in heaven eventually.

Yes.

but also here on earth.

Every time his story brings someone closer to Jesus, every time his intercession works a miracle, every time a young person looks at his photograph and thinks, “If he could be holy, maybe I can too.

” The prophesied meeting in Brazil wasn’t an ending.

It was a beginning.

It was the moment I finally understood what Carlo had been trying to teach me all along.

Death is not the opposite of life.

Death is a transformation of life.

Love doesn’t end when bodies fail.

Love transcends, multiplies, and continues forever.

Thank you, Carlo, for the prophecy.

Thank you for the 17 years of meetings I didn’t recognize.

Thank you for the meeting in Brazil that opened my eyes.

And thank you for teaching me that a mother never loses her son.

She just learns to see him in every act of love, every moment of grace, every heart that opens to Jesus because of his witness.

Until we meet again, and we will meet again constantly every day in every person touched by your story.
