Others brought a bucket of hot water with fire.

They held Himmler’s dying body by the ankles and dunked his head into the water in and out for almost 15 minutes.

It was too late to save Himmler, but they felt they had to do something.

All they managed was to prolong his agony from seconds into several minutes.

When there was no longer any doubt that he was dead, they laid his body on the bare floorboards.

There was no atmosphere of victory and triumph among the British.

On the contrary, they were restrained.

They had just let a great prize slip through their fingers.

Himmler knew more than any other man about the German underground resistance plans against the Allies and that in the early days with Germany still in chaos was of supreme importance.

But Himmler in the end chose to live according to the code of his own agents.

He revealed nothing.

He took all his information and secrets with him.

Still, there were his two companions, the burly aid and the thin secretary in the hands of the British at the Barnstead prison.

They might talk.

Thank you very much for your audience.

May God bless you all a big hug and see you soon.
