Following the Second World War, there were
many Nazi guards and members of staff who were sentenced to death for their violent
crimes that were committed inside of concentration camps.

Many of the camp’s commandants such
as Rudolf Hoess was brought to the gallows for the brutal mass killing and for the horror
that occured inside of Auschwitz.

But there was one Concentration Camp commandant who
also had a date with the executioner for his crimes, and he was one of the most brutal
and grotesque monsters of the whole of the Holocaust.

Amon Goth was featured in the film
Schindler’s List for his sadistic running of the Plaszow concentration camp, and he
was a despicable human who would take much pleasure in killing innocent people.

Amon Goth joined the Nazi Party in September
1930 in Austria, and he was involved in the youth groups as a young adult.

Inside of Austria
he also joined the SS, being granted full membership in 1932.

He served inside of the
SS in Vienna, and was then promoted to become a Scharfuhrer, but he left the country and
went to Germany after he was investigated for illegal activities such as stockpiling
and gathering explosives for the Nazis, and after the outlawing of the Nazi Party in Austria
he remained in Munich.

He smuggled radios and weapons into Austria, working as a courier
for the SS, and was later arrested for the assassination of Austrian Chancellor Engelbert
Dolfuss.

He managed to escape custody and then went
to the Ss training facility next to Dachau Concentration Camp.

He resumed his SS activities
after a short hiatus, and did become a Wehrmacht officer, but he became a financial officer
for the Reich Commissioner for the Consolidation of German Nationalhood.

Here he was involved
in isolating, deporting and organising the killing of Jews.

He was then transferred to
Lublin in summer 1942, and he was involved in the SS and police forces in the area.

He
was involved in rounding up Jews and deporting them to concentration and extermination camps,
participating in Operation Reinhard.

Goth was then transferred and assigned to
the infamous SS Death’s Head unit, the SS Totenkopfverbande.

These were in charge of
the concentration camp system, and were the ones who were ultimately responsible for the
deaths, executions and violent beatings that occured inside them.

Amon Goth’s first job
inside the unit was to oversee the building and construction of the 200 acre Krakow-Plaszow
Concentration Camp.

He was told he would command the camp once it had been built, and it’s
most possible that he had interviewed for the position with Heinrich Himmler, and that
Himmler must have been impressed with him.

Himmler favoured commandants who were brutal
and obsessed with efficiency, and he insisted that they were 100% behind the Nazi efforts
of mass murder.

The camp took one month to build using back breaking slave labour, and
on the 12th March 1943, the ghetto of Krakow was liquidated and those who were fit enough
to work were sent to the new camp at Plascow.

There were many thousands who were considered
not fit enough to work, and they were then sent to the extermination camps and were gassed
within minutes of arriving.

There were a number who were even shot dead on the streets as
the SS cleared out the ghetto.

Whilst the new arrivals came to the camp,
Goth made a crazy speech in which he claimed to the prisoners that, ‘he was their god,’
and it was he who had complete control and authority over the new camp.

He was also appointed
to be in charge of the liquidation of a ghetto at Tarnow, which held 25,000 prisoners.

10,000
were sent to the new camp to be slave labourers, and final roundups occured in September 1943.

Trains were loaded and Jews were then taken to extermination camps, and many were sent
to Auschwitz.

It was said that less than half survived the arduous journey, and it was Goth
who was in control of these deportations.

He had organised what would happen, and he
later admitted that he had shot with his own pistol and gun, between 30 and 90 women and
children during the liquidation fo the Ghetto.

He was also placed in control of other liquidations
including that of the Szebnie concentration camp that held around 6000 slave labourers.

The camp was liberated, with around half being sent to other places including his camp, and
during this, around 1000 jews were taken to a nearby forest under Goth’s command and
were shot dead in the forests.

The rest were sent to Auschwitz, and were then gassed and
murdered as soon as they got there on Goth’s orders.

He gained a horrific reputation in
Himmler’s eyes for efficient liquidation, extermination and killing.

He was promoted
to the rank of SS Hauptsturmfuhrer for his work, but inside of his concentration camp
he was incredibly sadistic.

Amon Goth was known for shooting many prisoners
randomly as if they were gain from the balcony of his villa.

He would take his rifle, and
would sit there waiting for a prisoner to come past, and would take shots at them, murdering
them on a daily basis.

If prisoners were walking too slowly, or were resting in the yard, he
would fire at them.

He saw killing prisoners as a sport.

He trained his two dogs, Rolf
a Great Dane, and Ralf an Alsatian to kill, and he would set these on prisoners and they
would tear prisoners limb from limb, killing them.

It was said, ‘I saw Goth set his dog
on a jewish prisoner.

The dog tore the victim apart.

When he did not move anymore, Goth
shot him.

’ A prisoner also commented on Goth’s torturous nature, ‘“A hideous
and terrible monster who reached the height of more than two meters.

He set the fear of
death in people, terrified masses and accounted for much chattering of teeth.

He ran the camp
through extremes of cruelty that are beyond the comprehension of a compassionate mind
– employing tortures which dispatched his victims to hell.

For even the slightest
infraction of the rules, he would rain blow after blow upon the face of the helpless offender
and would observe with satisfaction born of sadism, how the cheek of his victim would
swell and turn blue, how the teeth would fall out and the eyes would fill with tears.

Anyone who was being whipped by him was forced to count in a loud voice, each stroke of the
whip and if he made a mistake was forced to start counting over again.

During interrogations,
which were conducted in his office, he would set his dog on the accused, who was strung
by his legs from a specially placed hook in the ceiling.

In the event of an escape from
the camp, he would order the entire group from which the escapee had come, to form a
row, would give the order to count ten and would, personally kill every tenth person.

At one morning parade, in the presence of
all the prisoners he shot a Jew, because, as he complained, the man was too tall.

Then
as the man lay dying he urinated on him.

Once he caught a boy who was sick with diarrhea
and was unable to restrain himself.

Goeth forced him to eat all the excrement and then
shot him”.
