The written word was very important because it was, you know, >> you got all those books, the Bible, you know, you’ve got the the different gospels and stuff that people are quite familiar with.
Half the time they didn’t even need to read the subtitles.
They could look at it and know what was going on.
What if one of the oldest Bibles on Earth has been quietly holding a message about the end times that most of the world has never heard? Not hidden in a secret vault, not locked behind ancient codes, but preserved for centuries in a place few people think to look.
Recently, filmmaker and actor Mel Gibson stirred curiosity when he spoke about the Ethiopian Bible, a version of the scriptures that is very different from the one most people know today.
While many Bibles contain 66 books, the Ethiopian Bible holds more than 80, including ancient writings that were never included in the Western cannon.
For generations, Ethiopia carefully protected these texts, passing them down through monasteries and churches like a priceless treasure.
These writings include books such as Enoch and Jubilees, texts that describe mysterious events, spiritual warnings, and signs that appear before major changes in the world.
So why is this suddenly getting attention now? According to Gibson, some of these ancient passages seem to describe patterns of moral decline, global unrest, and spiritual confusion that sound surprisingly familiar today.
Instead of a simple story about the end, these texts speak about a time of awakening when hidden truths begin to surface and humanity is forced to confront its direction.
It’s almost like discovering an older map to a journey everyone thought they already understood.
But if these ancient writings truly hold additional clues about the future, it raises a powerful question.

the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and its ancient texts.
For nearly 2,000 years, most Christians around the world have heard the same familiar story.
After his crucifixion, Jesus rose from the dead, appeared to his disciples, and shared a final message of hope and salvation.
But in Ethiopia, some very ancient Christian writings tell a deeper and far more unsettling version of what happened after the resurrection, one that many people in the Western world have never heard about.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Church preserves one of the oldest and most complete versions of the Bible still in existence.
Alongside the books that are commonly known in other Christian traditions, their scriptures also contain several ancient texts that were never included in the Roman church’s Bible.
These writings are believed to record teachings Jesus shared with his followers after he rose from the dead.
Within them is a powerful prophecy about the final age of humanity, one that expands far beyond the warnings described in the book of Revelation.
For centuries, Ethiopian monks guarded these texts with incredible dedication.
In quiet monasteries, they carefully copied the words by hand generation after generation, determined that these teachings would never disappear.
To them, these writings were not simply history or spiritual reflections.
They believed they contained urgent messages meant for future generations.
According to these ancient texts, Jesus did not leave the world without first describing what humanity would eventually face.
He spoke about a distant time when the human spirit would grow weak, when truth would be replaced by entertainment, and when people in positions of power would appear holy on the outside while ignoring the suffering of the poor and vulnerable.
These were not gentle words of comfort.
They were warnings meant to prepare the world for what might one day come.
The Book of the Covenant, the End Times, Prophecy.
Among these ancient Ethiopian writings, one text stands out as especially powerful.
It is known as the Book of the Covenant.
According to tradition, this book records the conversations Jesus had with his disciples during the 40 days after his resurrection before he finally left the earth.
What makes this text remarkable is how clearly it speaks about the final age of humanity.
In this book, the beginning of the end times does not arrive with sudden fire or dramatic destruction.
Instead, Jesus describes something quieter, but far more troubling, the gradual loss of human conscience.
He speaks of a generation that will know his name, repeat his teachings, and build grand churches in his honor, yet completely miss the true spirit behind his words.
The buildings may be full, he explains, but the living spirit of faith will have quietly faded away.
The warning becomes even more unsettling when he talks about false leaders.
According to this prophecy, deception will not come only from distant places or obvious enemies.
It will appear inside the very institutions created in his name.
Some leaders will speak about heaven while chasing power, wealth, and influence on earth.
Jesus warns that when his message is used to justify violence, protect greed, or silence those who are suffering, it is a sign that humanity is drifting toward a dangerous moment.
The prophecy then turns toward the natural world.
Jesus describes unusual events, earthquakes, rising waters, and strange signs in the sky that will leave even wise people confused.
But he explains that these events are not simply punishments.
Instead, they are signals like the first pains before a new birth.
He says the earth itself will react to what is coming.
Then comes a final warning.
People should not fear the shaking of the ground, but the moment when human hearts grow so cold that nothing moves them anymore.
The Dcalia, the final empire.
Another book from Ethiopia called the Daidcalia adds another dimension to this prophecy.
It records Jesus warning his followers about a final empire, a system of power so vast and so subtle that most people would live inside it without ever knowing they were captive.
He says this empire will not use chains.
It will use comfort.
It will give people bread and entertainment and call that freedom.
He continues, “Blessed are those who see the cage and still choose love.
Blessed are those who are hungry for truth in the age of false abundance.
” These same texts also include a chilling vision of what the final days will actually look like from the inside.
Jesus says that in the last age his voice will rise again from unexpected places from deserts from prisons from the children of the forgotten.
He says his spirit will speak through those who are ignored by the powerful and that the most dangerous truth of the end times is this.
The people who claim to be ready will be the last ones who see it coming.
Why Ethiopia preserved these texts? To understand why these unusual writings survived, you have to look at Ethiopia’s unique Christian history.
Christianity reached Ethiopia in the 4th century and the faith grew there in its own way for many centuries.
Because the Ethiopian church remained largely separated from Rome for a long time, it preserved traditions and writings that were never accepted in Western Christianity.
This distance allowed Ethiopian believers to keep a broader and more mystical collection of texts about the teachings of Jesus.
In these Ethiopian writings, the end times are not described simply as a chain of disasters or world events.
Instead, they are portrayed as a deep spiritual struggle happening inside every human being.
According to these texts, the real battle of the final age will not be fought with weapons or armies.
It will happen within the human heart.
It is described as a choice between truth and comfort, between waking up to reality and remaining peacefully asleep in familiar illusions.
Some Ethiopian scholars and believers have also suggested reasons why these prophecies never became widely known in the western church.
One reason they believe involves power and control.
Church leaders in Rome may have preferred teachings that kept people dependent on religious institutions for guidance and salvation.
A message suggesting that divine truth could speak directly to ordinary people, especially the poor and humble, might have challenged that structure.
Another reason is the mystical nature of the texts themselves.
These writings include visions, heavenly councils, and descriptions of cosmic timelines.
Such ideas were often viewed with suspicion by western authorities and sometimes labeled as dangerous teachings.
Finally, there may have been simple fear.
Some believed that if people truly understood these messages, they might realize that the final age described in the prophecies was not far away, but already beginning to unfold around them.
The four stages of the final age.
Some of the Ethiopian texts say that Jesus described the final age in four stages.
The first stage is the age of forgetting when people slowly stop seeking the truth.
The second stage is the age of spectacle when noise and entertainment replace wisdom.
The third stage is the age of the false shepherd when corrupt leaders take the name of God and use it as a weapon.
The fourth and final stage, the one that makes scholars go pale, is what the text calls the great silence.
Not a silence of peace, but a silence of the spirit.
When the connection between heaven and earth grows so thin that even those who are searching can barely feel it.
Jesus says that just before the end, in the deepest moment of the great silence, the fire will return, not to destroy the world, but to wake it up one final time.
The Ethiopian end times texts close with something the Western church desperately did not want people to hear.
Jesus says, “The end is not the end of life.
It is the end of the lie.
” He promises that those who chose love and truth even when the whole world chose comfort and power will not be lost.
He says they will be known by their scars, not their crowns.
The seven seals of the heart.
Another striking idea found in these Ethiopian writings is something Jesus calls the seven seals of the heart.
Unlike the dramatic seals described in the book of revelation, these seals are not about cosmic disasters or supernatural events.
They are about the inner condition of a person’s heart.
In other words, the real struggle happens inside us, not somewhere far away in the sky.
The first is called the seal of comfort.
This is when a person avoids truth simply because it feels uncomfortable.
Instead of questioning or growing, they choose the safety of familiar ideas.
The second is the seal of pride.
Here someone becomes so sure that they already understand everything that they stop listening, learning or reflecting.
The third is the seal of fear.
A life ruled by the need for security.
When fear controls every decision, people become willing to ignore truth just to feel safe.
Next comes the seal of distraction.
In this state, people fill every quiet moment with noise, entertainment, or constant activity, leaving no space to think deeply or hear a higher calling.
The fifth is the seal of false community.
This happens when people surround themselves only with those who agree with them, creating an echo chamber where real truth can no longer enter.
The sixth is the seal of false mercy.
Here, forgiveness is used as an excuse to never grow or change.
The final seal which Jesus describes as the most dangerous is the seal of religion itself.
when sacred words, rituals, and traditions become a mask that hides a lifeless faith.
According to the text, when a person breaks all seven of these inner barriers, something powerful happens.
Instead of waiting for a sign from the heavens, they themselves become the spark of awakening the world has been waiting for.
The prophecy of the final witness.
Jesus was betrayed, tortured, and crucified to save the world.
That is the story told in churches worldwide, passed down for generations, found in Bibles, in artwork, and in stained glass windows everywhere.
But another account, one that adds a dimension most Christians have never encountered, has been preserved far away in Ethiopia.
Some of the oldest manuscripts kept in Ethiopian monasteries claim that before Jesus ascended, he gave his disciples something the Western church left out entirely, a final prophecy, a complete and terrifying vision of the world in the last days.
This testimony known among Ethiopian scholars as the prophecy of the final witness does not soften the end.
It names it.
It dates it in spiritual terms and it describes the generation that will live through it with a precision that makes the modern reader blood run cold.
In this version of the prophecy, Jesus tells his disciples that the final witness is not an angel or a cosmic event.
The final witness is a generation of ordinary people who will rise up in the deepest darkness of the last days and refuse to be silent.
He says, “This generation will not be welcomed by the powerful.
They will be mocked, silenced, and erased from the platforms and pulpits of their age.
But their voices, he says, will be heard where it counts.
Not in arenas or on screens, but in the hearts of the people who are ready to hear them.
Jesus says to his disciples, “Do not fear if they turn off your voice.
Truth does not need a microphone.
” According to Ethiopian theologians, the suppression of this prophecy was not accidental.
They believe it was a deliberate act of the council of Nika in 325 AD when Roman controlled church leaders chose which books would shape Christianity for the next 2,000 years.
Ethiopian scholars say this council was terrified of prophecies that spoke of the church itself becoming corrupt in the last days.
A prophecy that said the most dangerous false prophets of the end times would wear crosses and build cathedrals was far too threatening to include.
So those words were buried and Ethiopia kept them alive.
Ethiopia, the chosen guardian of truth.
Ethiopia holds a unique place in human history.
It is one of the oldest civilizations on Earth with a story that reaches back thousands of years.
Through wars, shifting empires, and changing times, the country managed to protect something rare, its independence and its ancient traditions.
Unlike most African nations, Ethiopia was never fully colonized.
Because of this, many of its cultural practices, religious traditions, and sacred writings survived almost untouched by outside control.
For many Ethiopians, their nation is more than just a place on a map.
It is deeply connected to biblical history.
Some traditions trace Ethiopian ancestry back to Ham, one of the sons of Noah, a claim that also appears in several ancient Jewish writings.
Because of these connections, Ethiopia is often seen as a living link between the modern world and the earliest chapters of biblical history.
Faith has always been central to Ethiopian identity.
Christianity reached the region very early around the 4th century.
Unlike in some parts of the world where religion spread through political pressure or conquest, Christianity in Ethiopia grew naturally and became deeply rooted in everyday life.
Over time, it became something the people protected with fierce dedication.
By the sixth century, travelers were already writing about Ethiopia as a firmly established Christian kingdom.
One of them, the explorer Cosmos Indicopost, described a land where faith was woven into society.
He also recorded that Ethiopian rulers welcomed Christians who were fleeing persecution in other regions, offering them safety and a new home.
Another remarkable part of Ethiopia’s legacy is its Bible.
The Ethiopian church preserves one of the oldest and most complete biblical collections known.
While most modern Bibles contain 66 books, the Ethiopian Bible includes many more.
Among them are ancient writings such as the book of Enoch and the Book of Jubilees, texts that disappeared from most Western traditions long ago.
These writings were recorded in Gaes, an ancient Ethiopian language that only a small number of scholars can read today.
Because of that language barrier, much of the world remained unaware of these texts for centuries.
There are also two versions of the Ethiopian biblical cannon, a broader one and a shorter official version recognized later in history.
Some researchers believe the additional texts in the broader collection contain unusual prophecies and spiritual warnings that many people today are only beginning to explore.
Ethiopia’s long independence, its ancient faith, and its preserved scriptures have led many people to view it as a quiet guardian of old knowledge.
While the centers of religious power often shifted across Europe and the Middle East, Ethiopia continued to safeguard traditions that had almost vanished elsewhere.
For many historians and believers alike, this raises an intriguing question.
Could some of the oldest spiritual insights about humanity’s future have been quietly preserved in this remarkable land all along?
