In the scorching savannah, a mother elephant moves slowly alongside her calf.
Her trunk is strangely twisted and tied into a knot, a trap that has long become part of her daily suffering.
Every step is a struggle, yet she does not stop because her baby is walking beside her.
They reach a watering hole.
The mother elephant tries to drink, but suddenly collapses to the ground, completely exhausted.
The calf immediately moves closer, nuzzling against her, pressing its small body to hers, trying to calm her.

But danger is already near.
Hyenas appear in the distance.
At first, they watch, then slowly begin to surround their prey.
Despite the pain and exhaustion, the mother elephant rises.
She drives the predators away, placing herself between them and her calf.
It takes her last remaining strength.
When the hyenas retreat, the elephant returns to her baby and collapses to the ground once again.
The calf stays close, touching his mother, calming her, and then makes a decision.
He leaves.
For hours, the young elephant wanders across the savannah until he finally finds people.
Through his behavior, movements, and distressed sounds, he shows that he needs help.
The rescuers set off together with him.
And from that moment on, another part of this story begins.
The story of rescue.
