Who was Ils Cott? Margarete Ils Kler, born on September 22, 1906 in Dresden, grew up in a working-class family.

The daughter of a foreman, she had a childhood without any major significant events.

In the 1920s, after completing her studies in commerce, she worked as a secretary and accountant in various companies.

His involvement with politics began in 1932, when he joined the Nazi Party, a year before Adolf Hitler took control of Germany.

During that period, the Nazi regime propagated a specific vision of the female role, emphasizing motherhood as a duty to strengthen the Aryan race.

The government encouraged marriages and large families, offering economic benefits to those who had children.

In 1936, the SS launched the Lebensborne program, which aimed to stimulate population growth among individuals considered racially superior.

In addition to providing support to single Aryan mothers, the program also kidnapped children from occupied territories to be raised as Germans.

Despite the efforts, the initiative yielded results below expectations, and the regime intensified pro-natalist policies, including awards such as the German Mother’s Cross of Honor, granted to women who had four or more children.

At the same time, stricter laws were imposed to punish abortion and prevent the termination of pregnancies.

Although Nazism promoted a traditional model of women focused on the home and raising children, many played active roles in the functioning of the regime.

Of the approximately 40 million women who lived in the third Rich, it is estimated that around 13 million participated in Nazi activities, working as nurses, teachers, social workers, and even in auxiliary military and police forces.

Some even went on to hold administrative and surveillance positions in concentration camps, performing duties ranging from bureaucratic management to the direct application of repression against prisoners.

On the other hand, the regime also brutally persecuted women who did not fit its racial criteria.

Thousands were arrested and sent to concentration camps, while others were victims of forced sterilizations, part of the racial hygiene policy promoted by the third Rich.

The Nazi government sought to eliminate those it considered undesirable, including the physically and mentally disabled, Roma people, Jews, and political dissidents.

It was in this context that Sicor became deeply involved in the Nazi regime.

In 1936, she married Carl Otto, the commander of the Saxenhausen concentration camp .

This marriage not only brought her closer to the Nazi elite, but also directly inserted her into the concentration camp system, where she would become one of the most feared figures for her sadistic and cruel behavior.

Atrocities in Saxenhausen and Burenwald.

In July 1936, the Soviet Union established the Saxenhausen concentration camp, located on the outskirts of Berlin.

Designed to serve as a model for other camps of the Nazi regime, Saxenhausen became a detention center for political opponents and common criminals, reflecting the hardening of Nazi Germany’s repressive policies.

Even in its first year of operation, the camp already housed approximately 16 prisoners subjected to inhumane conditions.

The first prisoners sent to Buckenwald were largely political opponents of the Nazi regime.

However, as time went on, the camp began to receive an increasingly diverse contingent, including Jews, Gypsies, Jehovah’s Witnesses, repeat offenders, and deserter soldiers.

Within this environment of cruelty and repression, Ilzikor built his infamous reputation.

Known among the inmates as the Witch of Bushwald, she terrorized the prisoners with her extreme brutality.

One of his most macabre traits was his obsession with tattoos.

Mounted on horseback, she roamed the countryside in search of prisoners whose tattoos caught her attention.

Those who were chosen were doomed to death, as they were sent directly to their execution.

Before their bodies were incinerated, the tattooed skin was extracted, and Y transformed these fragments into macabre trophies.

Items such as lampshades, book covers, bags, and even gloves made from human skin were allegedly crafted under his direction.

Il’s fascination with tattoos was not an isolated interest.

She shared this obsession with Dr.

Eric Wagner, a physician who worked in the field and who, according to reports, was also her lover.

But the web of corruption and murder involving her husband, Carl Otto, made this charade untenable.

The couple’s decline began in 1941, when Buckenwald came to the attention of Josiah Valdeek, a high-ranking SS commander and chief of police in Weimar.

As the person responsible for overseeing the concentration camps in the region, Valdec periodically reviewed the lists of deceased prisoners.

During one of these reviews, he came across a name that caught his attention: Walter Krammer, head nurse at Bookenwald Hospital.

Krammer was no ordinary prisoner.

Years earlier, he had treated Valdeek himself and saved his life.

Intrigued, the officer decided to investigate the circumstances of her death.

The findings were disturbing.

Kemer and his assistant Carl Page had been murdered on the direct orders of Carl Ottoosch.

The official reason given was his alleged political opposition to the Nazi regime.

However, the truth behind these executions was different.

Both healthcare professionals were aware of a secret that [ __ ] wanted to keep hidden at all costs.

They had treated Buckenwald’s commander for syphilis, the same disease he was spreading among his subordinates.

Fearing that this information would compromise his reputation, Cor decided to eliminate them.

The investigations also revealed a cover-up murder.

A prisoner was killed under the allegation that he was trying to escape from the camp.

However, upon further analysis of the case, it was discovered that he had been assigned by superiors to fetch water from a well outside the camp’s boundaries.

While performing this task, he was shot in the back.

What made this death even more suspicious was the fact that this same prisoner had participated in the treatment of C.

‘s syphilis.

As the investigations progressed, the scandal grew even larger.

An SS member, identified as Kler, was also murdered inside the camp.

The person responsible for the crime was Valdemar Hoven, a Nazi doctor in charge of experiments on prisoners.

Roven tested the effects of diseases and chemicals on human subjects, including injections of phenol and Evipan.

According to reports, Culler posed a threat to K and Ils because he possessed compromising information.

To ensure his silence, Hoven, who was also Hillse’s lover, eliminated him with a lethal injection.

In addition to the murders, widespread corruption within Bookenwald also came to light.

Documents and testimonies revealed that Carl and Ilscock had illicitly enriched themselves at the expense of the prisoners.

One of the most emblematic cases was the construction of a luxurious covered riding arena, commissioned by Carl in May 1940 as a gift for Ils.

The work, financed with money extorted from prisoners, cost more than 250,000 Rks, but this was just one of many examples of the misappropriation of goods confiscated from inmates.

K used the stolen funds to buy luxury cars and transfer money to bank accounts in Switzerland, amassing a fortune at the expense of human suffering.

When the investigations were concluded, Carl Otto [ __ ] was formally charged with corruption, embezzlement, and the unauthorized murder of prisoners by the Nazi High Command.

Using a clandestine shortwave transmitter, operated with a small improvised generator, they sent a distress call in Morse code.

General Paton’s message to the army was clear and urgent.

This is the Bookenwald concentration camp.

We need help.

They want to evacuate us.

The SS want to destroy us.

The reply arrived in just 3 minutes.

Confident that the Allies were on their way, the prisoners began to organize themselves.

However, the danger had not yet passed.

Shortly before the Americans arrived, the Gestapo headquarters in Viimar ordered Bookenwald to be destroyed with explosives, ensuring that no survivors could testify about the crimes committed there.

The order was sent by phone, but by a twist of fate, the call was answered by a prisoner.

Without raising suspicion, he replied that the destruction had already been completed, deceiving the Nazis and saving thousands of lives.

On April 11, 1945, the Sixth Armored Division of the United States Army finally reached Bookenwald.

The soldiers found more than 21,000 survivors reduced to skin and bones, with empty stares and bodies exhausted by hunger and mistreatment.

The Americans not only liberated the camp, but also sought to ensure that the German population could not claim ignorance of the atrocities committed there.

On the orders of General Paton, 1,000 citizens from the neighboring town of Vaimar were forced to visit Buckenwald and confront the brutal reality that had been occurring for years just a few kilometers from their homes.

The scene they
encountered was terrifying.

Mountains of piled-up corpses, skeletal prisoners trapped behind barbed wire fences, crematoriums covered in human ashes, and an indescribable horror laid out on a table.

Lamps made of human skin, limbs preserved in jars of alcohol, and two shrunken heads, deformed by macabre processes.

Faced with this, many citizens cried, some fainted, and others, horrified, claimed they had never known what was happening inside the field.

While Buchenwald was being liberated and its horrors exposed to the world, Zicock tried to hide.

As the Allied forces approached , she fled to Ludwigsburg, where part of her family lived.

His destructive behavior, marked by excessive alcohol consumption and promiscuity, led his own relatives to seek to remove custody of his children.

However, with the chaos at the end of the war, this was only made official in June 1945, shortly before his arrest by American authorities.

Ils was brought to trial in the so-called Bookenwald trial, which began on April 11, 1947, at the former Dahao concentration camp .

Among the 31 defendants, she was the only woman.

During questioning, he denied all accusations, claiming ignorance of the murders, torture, and medical experiments carried out at Buckenwald.

However, her statements were contradicted by numerous witnesses, including survivors, who directly accused her of selecting tattooed prisoners to be killed, with the aim of using their skin to manufacture macabre objects.

When the sentences were announced on August 14, 1947, she was pregnant with a child conceived during her detention with a German prisoner.

This condition spared her from the death penalty, and she was initially sentenced to life imprisonment.

His son, U, was born in October 1947.

The sentence, however, was reduced to just 4 years after a review.

The decision caused international outrage and led to protests, forcing German authorities to reassess their conviction.

This time, she was formally charged with inciting murder in 135 cases, resulting in a second trial that began on November 27, 1950.

The trial lasted seven weeks and involved 250 witnesses, 50 of whom were called in her defense.

During the trial, she showed signs of mental collapse, fainting twice, once in late December 1950 and again in January 1951.

Even so, the evidence against her was overwhelming.

On January 15, 1951, she was finally sentenced to life imprisonment.

His sentence was documented in a 111-page report, detailing the horrors he participated in.

Over the years, the Witch of Bookenwald, as she became known, submitted several pardon requests, all of which were denied by the Bavarian Ministry of Justice.

Isolated and without support, her sanity began to deteriorate.

She believed that survivors of the concentration camps would invade her cell at night to torment her.

In her delusions, she claimed that the dead prisoners came demanding that she return the skin she had ripped off them.

While Yse languished in prison, her son Artwin, from her marriage to Carl Kh, struggled with the weight of his parents’ legacy.

Unable to bear the shame and stigma of being the son of war criminals, he took his own life in 1967.

Shortly afterwards, on September 1st of that same year, Zekorch met the same fate.

Completely distraught, she hanged herself with a sheet in her cell.

At the age of 60, his body was buried in an unmarked grave , without tributes or mourning.

Thus ended the story of one of the most cruel women of the Nazi regime.
