The 10 HANGED at the Nuremberg Trials – The DESERVED NAZI EXECUTIONS

The end of World War II brought different fates for the brutal and diabolical Nazis.
And today you will learn the story of the executions of the 10 condemned at Nuremberg, carried out in October 1946 by the United States.
Executioner Sergeant John Woods sabotaged the executions to cause prolonged suffering to the condemned Nazis.
Let’s look at each of these stories, and stay until the end because what they did to these Nazis will be terrifying.
Who was the executioner of the Nazis after World War II? More specifically, in October 1946, a United States soldier named John Clarence Woods received a promotion in his military service; he would be the main executioner of the Nazis after the Nuremberg trials.
But who was he before that? Well, John hadn’t had such a distinguished career.
Before this feat, he enlisted in the US Army three years before all this happened and only applied for the position of executioner in 1944.
Woods claimed to have prior experience in the role, as he had been r
esponsible.
.
.
John Woods was known for carrying out executions of death row inmates in Texas and Oklahoma in the United States.
However, these claims were false, as John was only 12 years old when the last executions took place in those locations.
The truth is that he never commanded or even came near a gallows or an electric chair.
But this didn’t prevent him from getting the job, since in the army the background of its soldiers didn’t matter, especially not during that period.
We can say, then, that Woods’ career took off considerably after establishing himself as an executioner.
He reached the rank of sergeant in the US Army.
In October 1946, Woods received the news that changed his life: 12 high-ranking officials who were part of the Nazi regime had been sentenced to death at the Nuremberg trials, and he was the executioner responsible for carrying out the sentences.
John knew that he would be marked in the history of humanity after these executions; his name would be recognized, and he would still have the chance to give the Nazi villains, who were in fact responsible for the Second World War, their deserved fate.
The world was overwhelmed by the chaos and pain caused throughout that period.
Sergeant Ods prepared a surprise for the execution of the condemned—something grim, to say the least, that would make their deaths even more painful and prolonged.
What were the trials like before we go directly to the executions? It’s worth noting that between November 1945 and October 1946, the International Military Tribunal was responsible for the trials of the war criminals of the Third Rice camp.
Numerous witnesses were heard.
Many of them spoke about their terrifying experiences in the concentration camps, about all the horrors that were practiced in those environments, and also about the thousands of executions they had witnessed.
The Nazis were confronted with their own crimes.
But they insisted that the evidence had been falsified or fabricated, claiming they were unaware of the reality of the concentration and extermination camps.
The defense of the accused was poor and inconsistent, even more so given the amount of evidence and witnesses participating in the trials.
Because of all the evidence of cruelty, the tribunal was inflexible with the.
.
.
Defeated in World War II, when the sentence was finally given, 12 of the Nazis present had been condemned to death by firing squad for their crimes against the country.
The two who escaped execution included one of the most active figures of the Third Right, Herman Goen.
He had also been sentenced to execution, but Herman committed suicide on the same day, being found lifeless in his cell after ingesting a cyanide capsule he obtained under rather mysterious circumstances.
Another who did not have his execution carried out by the International Military Tribunal was Martin Borman.
He had died a year earlier while trying to escape Allied troops, so his execution sentence was given even in his forced absence.
Thus, 10 of the 12 condemned were in fact executed.
In the following sections, we will learn more about their stories.
The preparations for the executions: On October 16, 1946, a platform was placed and prepared in the Nuremberg prison courtyard to be used in the execution of the war criminals.
The entire process was led by the United States Army.
As we have already discussed, Sergeant John W
oods was the.
.
.
The executioner responsible for the condemned’s execution process, the method used for the execution of the Nazis was hanging by rope, with the condemned’s weight having to be precisely calculated so that the rope used in the process was adjusted to each of the 10 who would undergo this process, so their necks would be broken instantly and without much suffering.
But that’s not how it happened.
The surprise prepared by Woods, as I mentioned before, Woods prepared a very unpleasant surprise for the Nazi criminals.
Instead of using ropes suitable for the weight of the condemned, John decided to prepare ropes that were too short.
This caused the executed to be hanged slowly and painfully; that is, they would not die from strangulation but from asphyxiation.
This was a small way of making them pay for everything they had done previously.
And before we move on, I want to make sure you ‘re with us so far.

The first executed man, Yahin von Rimento, the first of the condemned Nazis.
The person who was executed was the Foreign Minister of the Third World War, Arhin von Höpp.
He was accused of being responsible for the atrocities committed by the Germans in Denmark and also in French territory, since the governments and troops that had been sent and were stationed in those places answered to him.
Ribben Höpp even said in his trials that the one making the decisions in those nations was in fact Adolf Hitler, not him, and that his only objective had always been to seek international peace.
Even so, the former Foreign Minister never renounced his loyalty to Hitler.
On one occasion, he was even seen saying, “Even now that I know the whole truth of what happened, if Hitler appeared in my cell and gave me an order, I would obey it without hesitation,” in the moments leading up to the putting on of the hood.
And of course, during his execution, von Höpp had the opportunity to speak his last words, and then he said, “God protect Germany and watch over my soul.
I wish that my country recovers its unity and that, for the sake of world peace, an understanding occurs between East and West.
” Then he was executed.
Following this, the second executed Nazi high-ranking official whose execution was decreed was Viren Kiter, former Commander of the German armed forces.
Before the judges, he stated that he was aware that Hitler’s orders were illegal, but that he felt obliged to obey them because he was under an oath of loyalty to Germany and consequently to Hitler.
Viren even requested that his execution be carried out by firing squad, but his request was denied, and he was sentenced to death by hanging.
This was the convenient and just punishment for war criminals at that time.
His last words were: “I ask Almighty God to have mercy on the Germans.
More than 2 million of our soldiers marched to their deaths for their country, and now it is time to follow the same path,” he said.
The trapdoor used in this execution was too small for a man as large as him, so when the commander was thrown in with the rope, he suffered a strong blow to the head but was strangled at the same time, so he died by strangulation.
The third hanged man, Ernst Carbona, bled incessantly.
Ernst Carbona was the third Nazi to be sentenced to hanging.
He was one of the leading SS officers; more than that, he was the highest- ranking SS figure to survive and be tried in Nuremberg.
Before dying, Ernst Carbona stated that he regretted that Germany’s armed forces had been commanded by men without significant military experience.
Convicted of various crimes committed during the war, Ernst Carbona was finally punished by being executed.
The fourth executed man, Alfred Rosenberg, was the fourth condemned to execution.
He ascended to the execution site just 7 minutes after Ernst Carbona’s death.
Unlike the other figures mentioned, Alfred was not necessarily a military man like Katel or a minister like von Rent.
In fact, he had been one of the main ideologues of National Socialism.
His deranged thoughts synthesized and directly contributed to the dictatorship established by Hitler.
His vision was synthesized in his book known as ” The Myth of the 30th Century,” where he discussed all the issues.
The racial elements that formed the basis for the reign of terror built in Europe by Hitler were discussed moments before his execution, as was the case with the other condemned men.
He was asked if he had anything to say before his death, and his answer was a simple and emphatic no.
Immediately afterward, he was hanged.
The fifth executed man, Hans Frank, followed Rosenberg’s death.
His body was removed from the room, and the Nazi condemned HF entered the execution chamber.
According to later testimonies, HF had been the governor of Poland during the German occupation.
Frank was the only one of the condemned who was visibly remorseful for his war crimes and horrified by the images of concentration and extermination camps shown during the Nuremberg trials.
In reality, Frank had handed over his 43 personal diaries to the court, and it was thanks to this material that evidence was found to condemn him to hanging.
He smiled and thanked his captors for treating him with decency and respect; he felt relieved to finally be able to pay for his crimes.
War crimes: Before dying, the former governor still asked God to have mercy on his soul.
The sixth executed was Virin Frick, the Minister of the Interior of Nazi Germany.
Virin Frick was the sixth to be punished with a conviction.
Of all those who had received their sentence, he was undoubtedly the most nervous during this period.
To give an idea of this nervousness, he even stumbled several times during the ascent to the platform to be hanged.
At every moment, he also seemed to be on the verge of collapse or fainting.
Virin Frick was one of the main architects of the 1933 Habitat Law, which gave Hitler full powers to establish his bloody dictatorship.
It was also from him and Virin Stad that the so-called Nuremberg Laws originated, which distinguished the classification of Jews and Aryans, basically a set of anti-Semitic laws that emphasized Hitler’s plans to exterminate the Jewish population.
Fortunately, he was punished accordingly.
The seventh executed was Julius Stad, the leader of the Nazi Party in Franconia.
In the order of executions, his name was Julius Sider.
He was not a soldier, nor had he played a role in planning the Holocaust, much less been involved in the invasion of other countries.
However, the court considered that he had a strong role in spreading Nazi ideology and antisemitism through his speeches and writings.
For a considerable period, he directed one of the most aggressive newspapers against Jews, always accusing them of various crimes and promoting hatred towards anyone with a connection to them.
Therefore, the judges argued that he did contribute to the Holocaust, as he helped pave the way for the Nazi attack.
While being led to trial, he shouted loudly, “Hitler!” so that everyone present could hear him.
On the execution platform, he cursed the Jews, and as the executioner adjusted the hood over his face, he said, “You will all be hanged by the Boevik!” Before the rope was placed around his neck, he murmured, “AD, my dear wife!” Then the hatch opened, and he was suspended in the air, but he did not die immediately, remaining suspended and slowly suffocated.
Exactly as Woods had planned, the eighth executed was Frit Saer.
Frit Saer was the Regional Chief of the Turdy and had also been appointed the group’s general plenipotentiary for the employment of workers, even nominated by Albert Spear.
He worked directly with Hitler, as during World War II he was responsible for recruiting foreigners from occupied countries to fill the German workforce.
The truth is that he was convicted of being one of the main perpetrators of the use of slave labor during combat, even though he vehemently denied committing such crimes.
His last words were, “I am dying innocent, my sentence is not just.
God protect Germany.
” The ninth executed was Ifred Yod.
Ifred Yod was the ninth of those executed.
He was the head of the High Command of the Vermat during World War II.
His main accusations involved signing orders establishing the summary execution of political commissars and commandos who had been captured, as well as directly participating in the deportation of citizens of occupied countries.
Ifred also signed documents ordering the deportation of Danish Jews to concentration camps.
This was used as one of the main.
.
.
Despite the evidence against him at trial, he denied the accusations, but they were upheld by his judges.
He also requested to be executed by firing squad, something that was also denied to him.
The last executed Nazi at the Nuremberg trials was the former Deputy Governor of Poland and former Chancellor of Austria, Arthur Inquart.
Arthur faced four charges: conspiracy to commit crimes against the country, planning to initiate and wage wars of aggression, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.
He denied having knowledge of the shooting of hostages and said he had moral objections to the deportation of Jews, but in his opinion there were justifications for the mass evacuations.
Arthur was even acquitted of the conspiracy charge, but all the others were upheld.
Before being executed, he went to a Catholic confessional and received absolution from Father Bruno Spez, who was inside the prison.
His last words were: “I hope this execution is the last act of tragedy of the Second World War and that the lesson learned from this World War is that peace and understanding should exist among peoples.
I believe in Germany.
” Convicted and executed: In addition to Hamar Goren, who had committed suicide, they were cremated in Endorph in Munich, and the ashes of all of them were scattered in the Isar River.
The idea of cremating the bodies was to prevent the Nazi graves from becoming places of pilgrimage or meetings for those sympathetic to the regime and neo-Nazi groups.
In any case, it is very sad to think that so many people died because of such a bloody and brutal regime.
Fortunately, these are some examples of figures who paid for their crimes.
On the other hand, we know that many Nazis managed to flee to other countries; some were even captured and tried later; others were never found again and probably never paid for their sins.

The 400-Pound Giant Stormed the Military Hospital — Until the New Nurse Took Him Down Cold
The doors exploded off their hinges.
Gerald Boon didn’t walk in.
He detonated.
394 pounds of blind rage hit the emergency bay like a freight train without brakes.
The first security guard went airborne, slammed into the wall, and crumpled.
The second dove behind the station before Boon’s fist came down and caved the countertop in half like cardboard.
Monitors shattered.
A crash cart launched sideways.
Staff ran screaming.
Grown men pressed themselves flat against the walls, praying he wouldn’t look their way.
Nobody moved.
Nobody breathed.
Nobody dared.
Then one person stepped forward.
5’4, 130 lb, a nurse nobody had ever once noticed.

I want to see how far this story travels.
All right, let’s get into it.
Claire Hartwell had been invisible for so long that she had almost started to believe it herself.
That was the thing about Brook Army Medical Center.
It had a way of swallowing people whole.
The hallways were long and pale and humming with fluorescent light.
And the nurses moved through them like ghosts, quiet and purposeful, their sneakers squeaking against the lenolium in rhythms that never changed.
It was a machine, [clears throat] a welloiled, federally funded machine, and Clare was just one more small replaceable part inside it.
She had transferred in 6 weeks ago from a position nobody had asked about and she hadn’t volunteered to explain.
Her paperwork was clean.
Her references were impeccable.
Her personnel file said she had been a field medic in a support capacity, then transitioned to civilian nursing, then completed her RN lensure, then took a few years doing contract work with organizations whose names were blacked out in the documents.
Nobody pushed.
Nobody at Brook Army Medical Center had time to push.
There were patients to see, charts to file, and Dr.
Marcus Whitmore to survive.
Doctor Marcus Whitmore was the kind of man who had been told he was exceptional for so long that he had stopped being able to hear anything else.
He was 51 years old, boardcertified in trauma surgery, and he had a handshake that lasted exactly 1 second, long enough to establish dominance, short enough to remind you that your time wasn’t worth more of his.
He was not cruel the way cruel people are cruel in the movies.
He didn’t shout.
He didn’t throw things.
Well, not usually.
He was cruel the way a long winter is cruel.
slow, relentless, cold, and Clare Hartwell had become his favorite target almost immediately.
It started the first week.
She had flagged a medication dosage she believed was too high for a post-operative patient, a 72year-old man with compromised kidney function.
She had left a note on the chart, professional, documented, the kind of thing you are trained to do.
Whitmore had found her in the breakroom that afternoon, and he had said with the precise smile of a man who does not need to raise his voice to wound, “Miss Hartwell, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but perhaps we leave the clinical decisions to the people with the medical degrees.
” “Yes,” she had said.
“Of course, doctor.
” The patients dosage had been corrected two days later.
Quietly, no one mentioned it.
That was the pattern.
She would notice something.
She would flag it the right way through the right channels.
It would eventually be addressed.
And Dr.
Whitmore would find a new way to remind her that she was small and unimportant [clears throat] and replaceable.
He did it in front of the other nurses.
He did it in front of the residents.
