And this is the part that lingers over everything because if they really have had a working belief since day one, if they really do think this was targeted and if they really believe the person who did this could do it again, then it raises the question that has haunted this case from the beginning.
What did investigators see inside that house and in those first critical hours that made them shift so quickly from searching for Nancy to simply building a criminal case around her disappearance? That question still has not been answered publicly and neither has this one.
