My last message is to Mike Brewer.
Mike, I’m going to keep you on your toes.
I can’t wait to see the first wreck that you roll into the workshop and say, “Do your worst.
” Aunt Anstead was once in the limelight, loved by millions of viewers worldwide through the show Wheeler Dealers.
But behind that reputation was a series of cruel events.
He lost his career and family in just a few short years.
Divorce, separation from his children, legal battles, then bankruptcy.
Each successive shock hit him until everything seemed to collapse.
Not a movie script, but real life.
A man steps out of the television spotlight and falls straight into the darkest part of his life.
It might seem fairly complicated when you look at a loom at the end, but actually if you break each part down.
Now, this is a cool cool car.
Why? PCV, a turbo.
It’s also covered in oil.

In fact, this could prove to be expensive.
Ant’s story is not about pity, but about seeing that even the strongest people can break down at times.
Aunt Anstead entered his second marriage to Christina Hall at the height of his American television career.
I’d like to pronounce you husband and wife.
You may now kiss your bride.
They married in late 2018, quickly attracting media attention when they appeared together on HGTV shows, especially Christina on the Coast.
And then if you light it underneath, it’ll look, you know, it’ll highlight the fact that it’s floating.
Jenny will love that.
Okay, imagine a load of offset.
Their child Hudson was born in September 2019, symbolizing the harmony between the two famous television celebrities.
But just a year later, in September 2020, Christina announced her separation.
Aunt was completely surprised.
He did not deny it in the press.
I did not initiate the end.
This collapse did not just end a relationship.
It opened a series of crises that lasted for many years.
Immediately after the divorce, Aunt Anstead lost 23 lbs in a few weeks.
He joined a breakup recovery program, voluntarily enrolled in therapy, and attended a healing retreat on social media.
He made no secret of his exhaustion, sharing statuses that clearly reflected his pain.
Losing his family, losing his children, and having to get used to a new reality when he was the only one left in a house that was once filled with laughter.
This pressure increased rapidly when Christina continued to go public with her new relationship, and aunt was not ready to face the public as a single father.
Nonetheless, the tragedy did not stop there.
In April 2022, Aunt Anstead shocked the world when he filed for full custody of Hudson.
In court documents, he accused Christina Hall of being an irresponsible mother.
The accusations included allowing the child to suffer severe sunburn, failing to report that the child had been exposed to someone infected with COVID 19, and especially using Hudson’s image for promotional purposes on social media and television.
Aunt believed that his son should not be used as a tool to make money.
Christina’s response was swift with Aunt posting photos of Hudson to promote his own business.
Radford Motors.
The dispute quickly escalated into a public battle on social media.
Fans were sharply divided.
Some supported Ant for his fierce protection of his son’s privacy.
Others accused him of hypocrisy.
The heated comments on both posts continued for months, forcing both to deactivate or limit their accounts at times.
One point that sparked a heated debate was when aunt compared his situation to the tragic suicide of Kalia Posie, the famous toddlers and tiara’s girl.
My name’s Kalia and I’m 5 year and a half.
Aunt used the example to highlight the dangers of child exploitation in the media.
For many, this was a bold and somewhat extreme move.
But it also caused producers and the public to start to reconsider the dark side of reality television involving young children.
Finally, after 12 hours of mediation in court, Aunt and Christina reached an agreement to share custody of Hudson in November 2022.
Accordingly, both have equal legal and physical care rights with some minor adjustments from the original agreement signed in 2021.
Christina later publicly said that she would stop posting pictures of Hudson online as a way to minimize negative public opinion.
This whole period was also the biggest reason why Aunt Anstead decided to leave Wheeler Dealers at the end of 2020 when the show moved production from the US to the UK.
He chose not to join the cast.
In an official statement, aunt said he needed to stay in California to look after Hudson and could not be away from his child at such a crucial time.
He once said, “I am proud of what we have done with the show, but being a father is the most important job I have.
” Shortly after leaving Wheeler Dealers, Aunt Anstead turned all his energy and resources to a project he called the pinnacle of his mechanical passion.
In 2020, he along with car designer Mark Stubs and F1 driver Jensen Button relaunched Radford Motors, the British car brand that was famous in the 1960s.
Their goal was to create a classic handcrafted car with modern engineering aimed at global collectors.
The first product, the Lotus Radford type 62-2, a super light luxurious coupe that was presented as a true work of handcrafted engineering.
The project was both product and mediadriven.
Discovery launched Radford Returns, a show that chronicled the entire branding, car design, and production journey from A to Z.
It wasn’t just a business endeavor.

It was also Aunt Anstead’s way of proving himself after leaving the show he was associated with.
He called it the biggest gamble of his life.
From the launch events to the interviews, everything was professionally planned, giving the impression that Radford was going to be a spectacular comeback for all three co-founders.
But problems began to surface in 2023.
Some customers complained publicly on social media about not receiving their cars, even with having placed deposits long ago.
Asian dealers canled orders.
Some internal investors also showed impatience with the production schedule, but ants repeated asurances that the cars are in the final stages of development.
Radford’s financial information showed clear signs of cracks.
In March 2024, one of the shareholders filed a lawsuit against Aunt Anstead and Mark Stubs, alleging contract fraud and failure to repay a $2 million debt.
Court records indicate that financial reports were opaque.
While much of the investment capital was consumed without delivering products on schedule, although Ant claimed that he was only in charge of engineering and communications, his name appeared directly in the lawsuit, raising public doubts about his true role in the crisis.
In October 2024, Radford Motors officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, a form of legal protection to restructure debt.
In the filing, the company admitted that it could not meet its delivery commitments and faced the risk of litigation from multiple parties.
Ant remained steadfast.
We are not giving up.
This is a challenge, but also an opportunity to put things back together.
He continued to post factory photos, vehicle details, and technical drawings as a way to keep the passion alive and connect with the carloving community.
But by May 2025, that hope was all but dashed.
Radford Motors moved from Chapter 11 to Chapter 7, meaning liquidation, shut down, and no possibility of restructuring.
Several European parts manufacturers confirmed they had not received payments from the company.
Previously completed Type 622s were also held up in storage amid legal disputes.
The personal impact on Aunt Anstead is clear.
This is not simply a business failure.
It is the collapse of the image he has worked so hard to build since leaving television.
From 2020 to 2024, Radford was Ant’s answer to the question, who am I after Wheeler dealers? And now all that work has been lost after just one season of reporting losses.
For many who have followed Ant’s career, this is the first time they have seen him not only fail emotionally, but also fall into a public financial crisis.
From armed police officer to presenter to businessman, Aunt Anstead has always embraced change to find his place.
But after his fall from grace at Radford, the question is no longer whether he has the passion, but whether it is enough to get him back up again.
from gun barrel to camera before he became a TV car expert.
Aunt Anstead was an armed police officer.
At the age of 20, he joined the Hartfordshire Police Force and was quickly promoted to the tactical response team, a specialist unit that deals with high-risk situations such as hostage situations and armed crime.
At 23, Aunt was carrying a gun, facing situations that many people would never imagine in their lifetime.
twice awarded the medal of bravery for his bravery.
He has said that those moments between life and death completely changed his perspective on people and the world.
The years of being a police officer left Ant with not only reflexes but also psychological scars.
He witnessed heartbreaking scenes, people falling before evil and had to stay calm in moments of extreme tension.
Later when stepping onto the television stage, aunt once said, “Frankly, after what I went through in the armed forces, standing in front of the camera is nothing.
That calmness and toughness is the foundation for the confident, comfortable demeanor that the audience feels every time he appears on screen.
But his stable police career, Ant always had a bigger passion cars.
As a teenager, he built his first car by hand and sold it for profit.
What fascinated him was not just the speed or the engine, but the feeling of controlling, modifying, and regenerating old machines.
At the age of 26, after nearly 7 years in the police force, Ant made a surprising decision.
He quit his job to pursue car building full-time.
With no workshop or capital, he struck a deal to rent an abandoned barn in exchange for a year of work to renovate it.
There he started from scratch, building and rebuilding each car and part by himself, entertaining customers, transporting them, and then filming videos to post online to reach more people.
He used his semi-professional soccer earnings to fund his first ventures, where he played more than 700 games as both a goalkeeper and a striker in the Ryman League.
Between 2005 and 2014, Ant quietly built a name for himself in the UK’s bespoke car community.
He didn’t advertise heavily, nor did he rely on his TV fame.
Customers sought him out for his meticulousness, his ability to restore originals, and his dedicated work style.
Gradually, his projects gained more attention.
Aunt Anstead’s name spread among car collectors.
And from there, he caught the eye of TV producers looking for faces who truly understood cars rather than just their looks.
His breakthrough came in 2014 when he was cast in For the Love of Cars on Channel 4 alongside Philip Glennister.
Ant was responsible for restoring all the classic cars from Mini Coopers to Aston Martin DB6.
He was not just the on-screen mechanic but the central character demonstrating his knowledge, skills, and attitude towards the profession.
The positive response from viewers led to Ant being hailed as the new face of British motoring television.
Soon, a series of new opportunities arose.
A stint on Building Cars Live with James May and Kate Humble and a stint as the main MC of major car events across the country.
But all of that success stems from a decision to make a U-turn in 2005 to leave the police force and start over in a run-down barn with only old cars, cheap tools, and an unyielding will.
His years of holding guns and standing between life and death taught him the most important thing when you have survived the harshest things.
You can rebuild your life as long as you stand firm.
And it is this foundation that has made Ant one of the rare faces capable of combining technical ability with public bravery.
TV empire.
Aunt Anstead’s TV success didn’t come without a gimmick.
After For the Love of Cars, his reputation among classic car enthusiasts grew.
When Ed China left Wheeler Dealers in 2017, after more than a decade, the production team needed someone with real skills, TV presence, and the ability to tell a technical story that viewers could still follow.
Ant was chosen.
Replacing an icon is always a double-edged sword.
Ed China is not only a car expert, but also a character closely associated with the soul of the show.
When Ant appeared alongside Mike Brewer in the new season filmed in the US, many viewers were immediately critical.
Online, hundreds of comments compared every action, every technical maneuver, every word and did not react publicly.
But in a 2019 interview, he admitted, “I know I have to prove myself every day.
” Over the course of three years, Ant has helped the show maintain its status as one of Discovery Channel’s most globally distributed properties.
Under his watch, Wheeler Dealers has gone beyond restoring cars to its original state and has also stepped up its technical explanation, deepening viewers understanding of classic and modern car technology.
Many episodes have achieved record viewership in the US, Europe, and Australia.
The production team has expanded.
The California studio has been upgraded and ANT has become a representative of a new generation of technicians who know their craft and know how to deliver it.
Nevertheless, the explosion of television images also brought constant pressure.
Filming the show required a grueling schedule, filming continuously for 10 to 12 hours, day for many weeks.
When the show was successful, other TV channels quickly invited Ant to participate in new projects.
He accepted the role of hosting Antstead Master Mechanic in 2019 where he rebuilt an Alfa Romeo 158 from scratch.
This was a very personal show with no co-hosts, no big production support, just him and the scrap metal.
The audience appreciated it because it showed the true nature of a craftsman.
Not stopping there, Ant also appeared in shows like Barrett Jackson Live, World’s Greatest Cars, and most notably, Celebrity IOU Joyide, where he met Renee Zelwagger in 2021.
But it was this dense series of activities that partly pushed Ant’s personal life into danger.
Time for family was limited.
Stress from work, pressure to maintain an image, and a shooting schedule across time zones gradually distanced him from his loved ones, especially his ex-wife Louise Story and two children in the UK.
The decision to move his life permanently to the US to accommodate his production schedule was not simply a career move.
It was a move that saw him temporarily leave his first two children.
Although they kept in touch, the distance and time difference took a toll on their relationship.
In an interview, aunt choked up when he mentioned missing out on big moments with his daughter and son in the UK.
I always ask myself if I can have everything, and the answer is no.
In 2020, when the show decided to bring Wheeler dealers back to the UK, Ant was faced with a difficult choice.
Returning to the UK would have meant reconnecting with his children back home and continuing to host the show.
Instead, he chose to stay in the US where his son Hudson was too young to be separated from his parents.
It was a decision aunt later said he never regretted, but it also marked his exit from the biggest show of his career, a choice that few in the industry would dare make at the height of their success.
After leaving Wheeler Dealers, Ant’s fame didn’t completely disappear, but media attention began to shift to topics outside of his profession, his personal life, his relationship with Zelwagger, and his child custody battles, what he left behind from his three-year hosting tenure were dozens of meticulously restored cars, millions of loyal fans,
and a modern approach to digital television content.
Aunt Anstead’s television career has taken him to the top, but it has also cost him a lot.
From his time to his privacy, to his belief that fame comes with a worthy reward.
He has never complained publicly.
But with each subsequent appearance, one can see the eyes that once sparkled at the engine have become quieter, more reserved.
Because behind every repaired car, there is a part of his life that he has sacrificed.
What remains? Having survived two failed marriages and countless public heartbreaks, Aunt is now focused on the one thing he cannot afford to lose connection with his children and stability in his personal life.
Aunt’s first marriage to Louise Story lasted 22 years from his teenage years until they became parents to two children, Emily and Archie.
They married in 2005 and separated in 2017.
Around the same time, Aunt moved to the US to start a new role at Wheeler Dealers.
Even though the end of their marriage, Aunt and Louise maintained a respectful relationship.
In many of his later posts, he called Louise his best friend and ally in raising their children from afar.
But the distance of thousands of miles and busy schedules meant Aunt missed many important milestones in his children’s journey to adulthood.
Aunt’s relationship with Christina Hall was perhaps the briefest and most tumultuous chapter of his romantic life.
They married in late 2018, had son Hudson in 2019, and divorced less than 2 years later.
Tensions escalated after the divorce as the couple engaged in a custody battle over Hudson, which was decimated by public and legal pressure.
But things cooled down in 2023 24.
Christina shared on social media that she learned to put the good of her son above any personal feelings.
In late 2024, they starred in a new TV project together.
The flip off, a sign that they had at least found a way to coexist for Hudson’s sake.
If the first marriage was a pure commitment, the second relationship was full of public pressure, then the current relationship with Renee Zelagger has a completely different color.
The two met in 2021 when Zelwagger participated in the show Celebrity IOU Joyide hosted by Ant.
The relationship quickly developed but was kept private for many months.
They avoided making big appearances on the red carpet, did not show off their affection too much on social media, and always used short but weighty descriptions when talking about each other.
By 2025, Zel Wagger had officially moved in with Anon Hudson in San Diego.
Close friends confirmed that Renee was the one who helped stabilize the family during Radford’s downfall.
She appeared behind the scenes on Born Mechanic episodes, helped plan Hudson’s birthday, and helped manage Aunt’s media relations when things got too much.
In his 2024 birthday wishes, aunt wrote, “She is the nicest person I know and the only person who knows me that well.
Images of them together show a less exposed, less needy, but clearly more at peace.
” Aunt Anstead, regarding work, Ant no longer hosts a series of shows like before.
He returned to his personal project, Antstead, Born Mechanic, which will be released in 2024.
This series has no big stage, no famous guests, just his journey to renovate a 500-year-old farm in England to serve as a retirement home for his parents.
The funding comes from restoring and selling vintage cars, just like how he started.
The show was wellreceived and was renewed for a second season in 2025.
Amidst the storms, this is where Ant finds balance.
