>> >> Today, the 3rd Infantry Division joined forces with elite Army Rangers and US Marines in a combined ground operation that destroyed the last remaining Iranian missile site on the coastline and reopened the Strait of Hormuz for good.
12,000 American troops converged
from land, air, and sea to deliver the decisive blow.
At forward US bases in Kuwait and Qatar, the 3rd Infantry Division, Rock of the Marne, began its final push.
Soldiers moved with purpose across the tarmac and motor pools, loading M1 Abrams tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles, and heavy artillery onto transport trucks and flatbed trailers.
Mechanics performed last-minute checks on engines, tracks, and weapon systems.
Crews packed rucksacks with spare uniforms, rations, first aid kits, extra ammunition, and water.
They cleaned and function checked their M4 rifles, fed belts of ammunition into machine guns, and strapped on body armor.
Captain James Harlan, the overall mission commander, walked the formation, speaking directly to every platoon and reminding them this was the final objective.
At the same time, elite Army Rangers at a forward airfield in Qatar were rigging their parachutes and loading into C-17 Globemaster III aircraft.
They double-checked rucksacks, tested night vision goggles, and slung weapons over their shoulders.
Chief Petty Officer Marcus Hayes gave his Ranger teams one final brief.
“We hit the ground running, link up with the Marines, and take that last missile site before they can react.
” The Rangers marched up the ramps in disciplined columns and took their seats inside the massive transports.
From the sea, thousands of US Marines launched from amphibious ships, including the USS Tripoli (LHA-7), which provided alternate extra support for command, logistics, and rapid response throughout the entire operation.
Marines loaded into amphibious combat vehicles (ACVs) and landing craft air cushion (LCC) hovercraft.
Full combat gear, rifles, body armor, and packs were secured as the ACVs rolled down the well decks and entered the water.
Their water jets propelled them across the surface at high speed, hulls sealed and buoyant, carrying up to 21 Marines each toward the Hormuz coastline.
The operation moved like clockwork.
The C-17s carrying the Rangers lifted off and headed toward the drop zone near the final Iranian missile site on the coastline.
At the same moment, the ACVs and LCCs from the sea surged forward, skimming across the water and spraying wakes behind them.
The 3rd Infantry Division’s armored column rolled out from Kuwait.
A massive convoy of tanks and Bradleys escorted by attack helicopters pushing toward the same objective.
As the Rangers reached the target area, the jumpmasters gave the commands.
“Stand up, hook up, check static lines.
” The rear ramps lowered and green lights flashed.
5,000 Rangers stepped into the sky.
Parachutes bloomed in a white cascade as the soldiers descended directly onto the high ground overlooking the missile site.
The moment their boots hit the dirt, they shed chutes, grabbed weapons, and began pushing forward under covering fire.
Simultaneously, the Marines in their ACVs reached the beach.
Tracks slammed down, water jets shut off, and the vehicles transitioned from sea to land like armored beasts.
LCC hovercraft roared up onto the sand, ramps dropped, and Humvees, cargo trucks, and more Marines poured out.
The Marines from the sea immediately linked up with the Rangers who had just landed from the air.
Chief Petty Officer Marcus Hayes met the Marine company commander on the beach.
A quick handshake and nod confirming the linkup was complete.
The 3rd Infantry Division’s armored column arrived from the land side at the same moment.
Tanks and Bradleys rolled into position, their main guns trained on the final Iranian missile site.
12,000 American troops, Rangers from the air, Marines from the sea, and the 3rd Infantry Division from the land had converged perfectly on the last major missile complex guarding the Strait of Hormuz.
The final assault began.
Rangers and Marines cleared the outer perimeter under the covering fire of Abrams tanks and Bradley cannons.
ACVs advanced inland, their machine guns suppressing enemy positions while infantry squads moved house to house and bunker to bunker.
The 3rd Infantry Division’s heavy armor smashed through the main gate, destroying launchers and radar arrays with direct fire.
Within minutes, the entire site was overrun.
Every remaining missile launcher was captured or destroyed.
The last Iranian threat to the Strait was eliminated.
Captain James Harlan stepped forward onto the captured missile site as the smoke began to clear.
He gave the order.
A color guard of Rangers, Marines, and 3rd Infantry Division soldiers marched to the center of the complex.
The American flag was unfolded and raised high on the tallest mast.
As the stars and stripes reached the top and snapped in the breeze, 12,000 troops stood at attention and saluted.
Cheers erupted across the coastline.
The moment was historic.
The first oil tanker sounded its deep, triumphant horn as it passed safely through the Strait of Hormuz.
The waterway now completely open and secure.
More tankers followed, their crews waving from the decks as they saw the American flag flying over the captured missile site.
The world’s most important shipping route was free once again.
Captain James Harlan walked among the victorious troops, shaking hands with Chief Petty Officer Marcus Hayes, and the commanders of the Marines and 3rd Infantry Division.
A deep sense of pride and relief filled the air.
The long-threatened blockade and missile threat in the Strait of Hormuz had been destroyed through the courage and skill of American soldiers and Marines on the ground.
As the sun began to set over the now-secure coastline, Captain Harlan stood overlooking the Strait, reflecting on the tremendous effort that brought this victory.
Every rucksack packed, every parachute rigged, every ACV that crossed the water, and every tank that rolled across the desert had contributed to this historic success.
The Rangers, Marines, and 3rd Infantry Division had performed with exceptional bravery and professionalism.
Their actions will be remembered as the day the Strait of Hormuz was finally reopened for good.
The full force now prepared to return home, carrying with them the knowledge that they had achieved something extraordinary.
The Strait of Hormuz, once a place of tension and threat, was now secure and open for global commerce.
The soldiers stood tall, shared stories of the linkup and the final assault, and allowed themselves a quiet but powerful sense of accomplishment that would echo for years to come.
Captain James Harlan’s voice carried across every radio channel one final time.
“Mission complete.
The final missile site is destroyed.
The Strait of Hormuz is open.
We are coming home.
” The American flag snapped proudly in the breeze.
Freedom sails on.
